Here, I will share with you my random thoughts, opinions, obsessions, and general quirkiness.
I hope this blog will provide you an outlet for decompression and escapism to all things fun, trivial, entertaining, and pretty. May you then return to real life, refreshed and raring to take on the day.

Going home
Today, I'm getting everything finished up for my trip to D.C. tomorrow morning. My boyfriend and I will be there all weekend, taking in some of the historical sights in Virginia (where I grew up), visiting the museums, catching up with family, and generally enjoying the mild Fall weather and beautiful colored leaves. These are all things I miss constantly about living there. I still maintain that the Blue Ridge/Shenandoah Valley area of Virginia is one of the most beautiful places in the country.
Everything there seems to have a memory, from tagging along with my mom on the 9:30pm Fed-Ex runs to Dulles Airport (where we're flying into) so she wouldn't miss a work deadline, to the dinosaur bones at the Smithsonian (I was one of those kids who actually loved going to museums), to the familiar street names leading to places where I did theater rehearsals or where my closest friends used to live. It's all just very nostalgic. I'm actually going to have to try and keep from getting emotional the entire time. Haha. Especially if we get a chance to drive by some of my old houses and favorite spots.
I'll do my best to take lots of photos and have a recap of the vacation when I get back.
Have a wonderful day!

Back again
My apologies for being a total blog-slacker yesterday! I was busy sleeping off the effects of the weekend, in which I got about 6 hours sleep total, had two 12-hour days at the acting seminar, and spent the rest of the time out at karaoke with my sister and a bunch of friends. Definitely fun times, but quite a whirlwind. The time kind of all runs together, but I wouldn't trade a second!
I have to admit, things are feeling a bit quiet a boring around here, as I'm getting back to my normal routine.
How's your day going so far? Today feels like a hot tea kind of morning. I'm brewing a cup and then catching up on a few mundane tasks I never got to yesterday.
Hope you have a wonderful week!

Finally Friday
Really tired today. I guess it's from a semi-long week, but mostly from waking up multiple times the night before last because of a sick doggie (my boyfriend was sweet enough to actually be the one to get up and take him out every two hours...). We're not sure how he got sick, but he's swiftly improving, thank goodness. Still, I spent yesterday being pretty stressed out and worried over my little guy (who's been in the family since I was 14!).
Today, I will be blasting some fun music and cleaning the apartment a bit...and maybe dancing around, but I'll never tell. My sister will be arriving tonight for a whirlwind visit. We have an acting seminar all weekend, and I'm going to do my best to squeeze in some hanging out time and going out time, too.
Hope you have a fab weekend, and I'll see you on Monday! xx

"Apples, peaches, pumpkin pie..."
Time for some serious healthier eating. My body is hating me from 2 weeks of too much greasy junk foods and a slight excess of Oktoberfest beer and acidic cocktails (I seem to go through this cycle, don't I?). I decided to begin by stocking the kitchen with fresh produce, including these fruits, whose colors seem very reminiscent of Fall foliage. Perfect.

Little Things That Make Me Smile...
So, I've sort of had chicken-with-my-head-cut-off syndrome lately (i.e. running around like crazy), but I've still been appreciating some of the little things that perk up my day. Blogging about it has been harder to squeeze in, but it's about time I mentioned a few:
Large purple sunglasses for just $5 at Burlington Coat Factory.
Miniature books from the "Dummies" series on wine and cheese. They have since become a humorous addition to the mini-bar shelf in my dining room.
Not being ashamed to "dumpster dive". It's amazing great stuff I've found thrown out at my apartment, just sitting next to the dumpsters (there's no way I'm actually diving into a dumpster). I couldn't pass up this leather chair which, aside from needing a little patching, was in good condition and perfectly clean. No shame! I now have a much-needed extra armchair. Plus, I think everyone needs a little leather in their home. :P
Biscotti (unexpectedly slipped into our to-go order at Macaroni Grill the other night!) with coffee....for breakfast. :)

Oktober Weekend
Posting a little bit late today. I needed some time to fully wake up, have some coffee and cereal, watch one of my morning TV shows, and take care of a few work tasks before I felt human enough to sit down and blog. Haha.
I spent Saturday at Oktoberfest in Fredericksburg, TX with some friends. It was fun, but I think I'd actually enjoy the little german-influenced town even more on just a typical day, without the crowds, long lines, and overpriced beer and food (purchased with tickets, after waiting in a long line for those, too). The little shops and bars in town are great. I'd love to just go spend a day there sometime this fall, and experience that stuff in a more relaxing atmosphere. The road trip part of the day might have actually been the most fun, with all of us piled into my boyfriend's car for an hour and half each way. We ended the day with a whole collection of inside jokes. Definitely some good times.
On Sunday, I got to sleep in, which was amazing after the long week I had, with plenty of extremely late nights out, too-early mornings, and busy days. My boyfriend had coffee awaiting me when I finally got out of bed, and we watched the Texans game together. Then, we headed out to browse some of the big Halloween stores that open each year around this time. We stopped at Rockin' Tomato for dinner (I LOVE their Greek salad with a side of pepperoni rolls). It felt great to have a low key day, just the two of us. I'm glad we got out to really enjoy it, rather than just camping in front of the TV all day (which would have been tempting). We got in at about 9pm and had some time for cuddling on our big arm chair before bedtime.

The turkey legs were quite a hit.
I'm wearing my new 70s style dress with gypsy-like sleeves, which I bought second hand at Plato's Closet for $8. I thought it had perfect Fall colors for the day. I felt quite Rachel Zoe-ish. I'll try and post a better photo of it soon.
